Any Excuse for a Party

Oops! I noticed a few weeks ago that I was approaching post #100, but then just as quickly, I forgot.  *lol*  Lo and behold, it was two posts ago.  Soooooooooo, this is post #102, but hell, ya’ll get the idea.  Hurrah, soul clap, three cheers for ya girl!   It’s been almost four  years that I’ve been blogging and I still enjoy it.  Back in ’06, I stumbled onto a few blogs and I was instantly hooked.  I found my favorites and followed them for a few months before jumping in the game myself.  I was consistent in the very beginning (posting once a week), then life just kept happening.  But now in ’10, finally, I think I’ve got the hang of balancing it all, and I try to post twice a week.

Anyways, as if ya’ll don’t already know too damn much about me, here are a few more random tidbit:

  • I’m terrified of cats, but when I meet new people, I usually tell them that I’m allergic.  An allergy is universally understood and much easier for people to empathize with.

  • I like all things banana flavored, but I can not eat an actual banana.  Ick!  I think it’s a texture issue.  I’ll even pick the bananas out of banana pudding.

  • Heard a Gerald Levert song on the radio this morning and immediately changed the station.  He’s on “that list” on mine.  You know the one?  Artists that folks rave about and love, but they have zero appeal to you?  Yeah, Gerald is on that list, along with Toni Braxton, Eric Benet, and Brandy.  I’m sure there are others, but those 4 top the list.

I do want to say thanks to each and every one of you, for stopping by from time to time to read the nonsense that comes out of my head.  I enjoyed blogging when I had no readers, but it’s nice to know there are some folks who enjoy what I’m putting out in cyberspace.  Can I ask a favor? Chime in and let me know you’re out there.

Whether you are a regular reader or a quiet lurker, comment today and let me “see” you.  Pretty, pretty please??? Tell me how long you’ve been reading and how you came to discover my little piece of the web.  And don’t ya’ll “lurkers” dare misinterpret the work “lurk” as negative.  Would you rather I call  you “mystery readers”???   So, to all my regulars and mystery readers, holla at cha girl!  Later peeps!!

  1. MRS TDJ, I don’t remember how I stumbled along this blog, but I have enjoyed it. You’ve made me laugh out laugh with some of your adventures.

    • Hey there! Thanks for popping in to say a quick hi!
I’m happy that you are reading and enjoying.
You’re welcome to stay as quiet as a church mouse or join in anytime. =)

  2. Hi. I’m new around these parts and I just wanted to peek my head out and say hello…Ha!! You know I practically stalk your blog TDJ!

I was gonna do the same thing as far as a lurker call. You just wanna know who’s out there reading your stuff. I get curious too.

Congrats on all 102 posts! Here to 104 more!

    • Waving wildly!! Hey sis! I kinda stalk you too!
Exactly! I don’t focus on the stats, but it’s interesting some days when I reach over 100 hits, but have only one comment. Huh?
I’d never, ever threaten folks to comment, but I’m just curious as to who is stopping by.

  3. Heeeey!! Big Wave…here I am. lol.

Congrats on exceeded 100 posts!!! I’m the reverse on the bananas. I love to eat an actual banana, but not too found of things banana “flavored”.

I HATE cats and I don’t care who knows it or how they feel about it. I think they are evil creatures, likely holding the souls of bad people that once lived on earth. You see, I hate them…and i think they all hate me because i’m so pure and good, lol.

You don’t like Gerald? I’m going to end this on a good note and not comment on that new piece of info you’ve shared, LOL. JK…hey, you like what you like and you don’t like what you don’t like…it’s all good.

Oh can I use that lurker pic…I want to ask people to delurk as well??

    • Heeeeey!!!
      Banana weirdo! *lol*
Gurl!! They are the most horrible creatures!! I’ve got so many cat stories, ya’ll would be tired of reading.
Ha ha! Sorry! I know the Gerald thing puts me some kind of list.
And yes, feel free to grab the pic. If it doesn’t copy properly, let me know and I’ll email it to you.

  4. I think I’ve commented once, but I’ve been lurking for a few months now. I lurk on most of the blogs that I visit. I’m pretty quiet in real life, so that just extends to my online persona. I can’t even remember how I stumbled upon your piece of the interwebs, but after just a couple of reads you were promptly added to my Google Reader!

    • Hey there! Thanks for coming out for a few seconds!
Glad to hear that you’ve been reading and enjoying.
Feel free to stay pretty quiet or jump up and down anytime. =)

  5. Taya Mae…don’t start worrying about the number of posts you’ve written, you just concentrate on writing the next one, ya hear me? 🙂 Congrats, Lady!

Oh…and now that I know that you are officially a weirdo (for the bananas) and a liar (about the cats) you are on my list, mkay?

    • Bwahaha! I should have know you’d have something smart to say!! I’m working on something now and should have it up by the end of the week.
LMAO @ a weirdo and a liar!! You crack me up woman!

  6. Pip pip, cheerio! I think I found you through Monica’s blog.

I love the way you write – you continuously crack me up! Carry on.

On that banana thing? Reverse! Criss cross. Where was I…oh yes I like real bananas. Banana flavored, not so much.

A few singers I don’t “get”: Jill Scott, R Kelly, Fantasia. I’ll stop here.

    Have a great one!

    • Wow! You and Aretha are the same with bananas!
Ha ha! Thanks for the Cha Cha moment. Now that damn song is stuck in my head. “2 stomps, let’s go!”
Ooooh, yeah, Jilly from Philly is on my list too. Forgot about her.

  7. Hmmm… I think I’ve been reading for a few months. I think I found you via Aretha or Nerd Girl. Chile IDK! I’ll eat a banana before assuming banana flavored things are okay. Love banana pudding in its entirety but banana candy and liquer? Gross. I love the taste of vanilla but the smell of it, particularly artificially (candles, sprays, etc.) is so disgusting to me. My list has the ultimate gasp-worthy one: Luther. HATE. HIM. Since the Kellz debacle, I’ve also hit next when he comes on. Not a huge AKeys person, either. I can see the appeal of Prince but in general, he doesn’t do it for me. I’m ruining lives in this comment. Lolol. Please tell us why you’re afeared of cats!

  8. I think I found your blog from Creole or Babs. There seems to be a small “blog world” sometimes and you see the same folks at different spots.

    Happy 100+ posts.

I feel the same way about Gerald Levert R.I.P. Automatic channel changer.

    • Hey there! Thanks for popping up for a second.
Huge internet and yes, very small blog world sometimes.
High five @ GL and changing the channel. I felt bad at the suddenness of his death, but the radio and VH1 Soul were killing ME with the days and days of his music.

  9. Hey there, hi there, ho there e-sister from another mister!

After reading about Brick-gate, I’m still torn on if that was the first post I read or the one about the crackhead maintenance man *gets tickled* Either way, I love this blog.

U is my friend sweetie too. LMAO!!

  10. This is my first time stopping by, but I know that we read some of the same blogs regularly. Minus The Bars & Gorgeous Puddin. 🙂 Happy 102nd post!
The banana thing is funny. I can relate though. I can eat a banana, but it never really appeals to me. I do like all things banana flavored though. Especially Banana Laffy Taffy! 😉

    • Welcome and thanks for stopping by! I hope you come back soon. You had good blog tastes @ Don and GP! LOL!
Oooh, how could I forget about banana Laffy Taffy! Excellent! And if you can’t get that, banana Now and Laters will do!
I’ll be sure to stop by your spot!

  11. Hey girl!!! LOVE your blog! Your writing is amazing, and you are hilarious!! I started reading in June with The Lonewolf post. I think I commented for the first time on The Kiss of Death. I’m not sure how I found you, but super duper glad I did!

Congrats on the 102 and wishing you many more posts. I’ll be reading!

I hate cats! I might be allergic too but I hate them yuck! I love bananas and banana flavors Yum! I can totally relate. I love onion flavored things but cannot eat a real onion yuck! About the music I ‘m just going to stare at you O_O LOL!

    • Hey lady! Why thank you! Can’t remember how I found you either. Isn’t that funny?
Girl, you know I OVERstand you on the cat thing. Ick ick!
Ha ha! I knew my feelings on some of musicians would earn me the side eye.
I’m a true music head, but those folks just don’t do it for ya girl.

  12. Hi….I’m Jeanine. I think I found you either Monnie’s blog, or maybe it was Nerd Girls’. I enjoy it very much. I haven’t read all your past posts, but the current one’s crack me up…Keep up the good work.

    • Hi ya Jeanine! Thanks for popping up for a few words!
Happy that you are reading and enjoying.
I hope you’ll continue to read and don’t hesitate to chime in anytime.
I’d love to get to know more of my readers.

  13. Hey Lady!

I’m checking in. I’ve been reading your blog on and off for probably 3 years now. I found you through SIP. LOL!

  14. I love reading your blogs because they always make me laugh. Laughter is good for the soul. It is also good medicine. Congratulations on your 100+ posts. Keep on posting.

  15. I’m no lurker but my reader doesn’t always put you on my radar so I have to scroll to find you. I guess that means I need to clean out my Reader. Either way, happy 102!

Why do I follow you?? Because you are hilaciously funny and honest. You are a friend that I know I could sit down with a drink in hand and we’d carry on a long conversation filled with truth and laughter.

    • Lady, clean out your reader!! LMAO!
Thanks for stopping by when you can.
And yes, isn’t it amazing that you feel that connection with some? You’ve got a friend here on the East Coast and I know to holla at you in I get out to the West Coast!

  16. *waving* hey now! Happy 102 to you! I love the random posts. I feel the same way about bananas and cats. I also have quite a few music artists that are on my “list” that make me say WTH?? I won’t say it here since they are very popular to many and I don’t want any hate mail *sneezes out Nikki Minaj*

BTW, thanks for always stopping by my blog 🙂

    • YES! High 5 @ cats and bananas! That’s at least three of us. Why are these things still on the planet???
Um, yeah, no hesitation here. I truly don’t get the appeal of Nikki Minaj. Just ugh!
I should through in a LOL just for the heck of it!!! =)

  17. From this day forth I will forever believe that you are in deed my “real” twin. I’ve told my parents for years that there is no way that I could be related to the person they’ve called my twin for the last 37 years because we are nothing alike. However, I am deathly afraid of cats (what’s with all that jumping they do? Just sit still!) and birds (dude, they poop at random). And I will not eat bananas since the “Banana Incident of 78.”

    • Hey there! Thanks for popping in to say a quick hi!
Aww, I’m somebody’s favorite! Awesome! Now I just gotta take Babs out so I can rock the crown alone! LOL!!
I’m delighted that you are reading and enjoying.
Please join in anytime or you’re welcome to stay as quiet as you’d like. =)

  18. Hi Mrs TDJ. I’ve never commented, but I stop by from time to time to see if you have a new post. I’ve followed you since, perhaps 08? I found your blog via, a blog I read daily. I find your “stories” and tone hilarious, and I love your light topics and sense of humor. I truly enjoy what you choose to share about your life, and your ability to give us something straight from the heart every so often, (posts about your grandmother are often moving) but remain true to your witty style. My favorite posts that I can read over and over and have shared with friends are old ones about the Federal Express office and numero uno would be the crack head gardener. Love and light to you and your family!

    • Hey there! Thanks for coming out to play for a few seconds!
Aww, thanks! Glad to hear that you’ve been reading and enjoying.
Ah, my Grandma LuLu. I’m well overdue to talk about her.
Feel free to stay pretty quiet or jump in on the convo anytime. =)

  19. Hey there, I’m new to your blog and I like 🙂 Thanks for commenting on mine post earlier. I totally feel you on the banana thing. I thought I was the only one. I love me so Gerald though–lol. I like any slow sappy love songs 🙂 Btw, you’ve got some hilarious stuff on here. I just read the post about when you were pregnant and ppl were asking the inappropriate questions–too funny, still LMBO at your responses.
By the way, how do I follow you (officially)?

    • High 5 on the bananas!! And as much as I like slow sappy love songs, GL just makes me want to snooze. Thanks for coming by and I hope you come back. I don’t have the Blogger follow thing on here, but I would suggest putting your blogs on some type of reader system. I love google reader and would definitely NOT be able to keep up with those that I wanted to without it.

    • As weird as this is, I absolutely love the way they smell! Smell and flavor are AWESOME to me, but that dang texture? Ick! It’s like I can FEEL the mush in my mouth.

  20. Did you just include Brandy on that list! HMPH! And I used to like you. LOL
Congrats on doing the Blog this long. I just got started and I forget about it from time to time then I have spurts where I post back to back to back. Oh well!

    • Ha ha ha!! I forgot about your musical love of B-Rocka and ‘Tasia! Don’t drop me!!
Yeah, I’m trying to be more consistent with it, but who knows what happen in the future?
